This exciting new course at Hereford College of Arts will give you a unique opportunity to study for a Level 3 qualification in Communication and Marketing in the creative environment of a specialist arts college. It will be of particular interest to you if you are looking to pursue a career that involves marketing, consumer psychology, arts business and management, events management and other associated creative industry business activities.


The Creative Industries is a huge employer offering a wealth of job opportunities for creative thinkers and organisers providing exciting opportunities for employment in communication and marketing at a range of different levels. This course aims to give you the skills to develop your career creatively and constructively towards either employment or Higher Education in this sector and beyond.

This qualification is equivalent to 3 A Levels.

Course

The Extended Diploma in Communication and Marketing aims to introduce you to a wide variety of skills and knowledge focussing on the core unit elements of business environment, business resources and marketing and business communications. The programme will be delivered by combining practice with theory through a variety of work based projects and integrated assignments, working to live briefs designed to enable you to gain hands on experience in a wide range of communication and marketing activities including:
• Advertising and public relations
• Event planning eg. Performance, Community
• Web and social media
• Market research and consumer psychology
• Enterprise and business start-up
• Visual communication using film, photography and graphic design
• Creative product promotion
• Professional development planning

Projects will also provide the opportunity to visit and work with local, regional and national businesses and commercial enterprises.

Key and Functional skills are an integral part of the course.


Assessment: This qualification comprises 18 units all of which are internally assessed through assignments, Work based learning, planning and implementing real projects and a portfolio of course work to represent the units. At the end of the course you will achieve a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business.
